When purchasing one of our new homes in Vancouver Washington, you’re sure to have items from your old home that you’ll be moving into your new home. However, there may be some essentials that you should update or add, especially if you’ve changed color schemes or just want to ensure your new home is more organized right from the start. Besides the necessary modem and router to provide internet access, here are some essentials for the major rooms.
The Living Room: You may have splurged on some new sofas and chairs or even a TV, or you may have changed your color scheme. All of this means there are certain basics you need to make sure you have, including: TV mounting hardware, extension cords, surge protectors, lamps, throw pillows, coasters, and somewhere nice to store all of your remotes.
The Kitchen: With a brand new kitchen that probably includes even more storage space, as well as a walk-in pantry, you should easily have room for all of your plates, glasses, cutlery, flatware, and your usual appliances. To make the most of your new kitchen, consider new towels, oven mitts, cooking utensils and even some countertop appliances, preferably in a color or pattern that complements your new kitchen. Anything on display looks better when you follow a color scheme throughout. You’ll also want drawer organizers if your old ones have seen better days, and don’t forget to stock up on food storage containers and organizers for dry goods in the pantry and for leftovers in the fridge.
The Bedroom: This really depends on if you’re changing your bedroom extensively. With a new home, now may be a good time to buy a new bed frame that adds to the style of the room, not to mention a new mattress pad/protector, or even a new mattress and pillows, since your old ones may be past their prime. If you’ve gone with a new color scheme, definitely consider sheets, comforters, blankets, quilts, and bedside lamps.
The Bathroom: A new home definitely deserves some new bathroom essentials. Depending on your particular bathroom, you may or may not need a shower curtain and rod, but keep it in mind. You should consider new bath mats, toilet scrubber, soap dishes or dispensers, jars for toothbrushes, and possibly a nice container to store extra toilet paper. Now is also a good time to get new bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths, or similar scrubbers. Make sure there’s somewhere in your shower to keep soap, shampoo, conditioner and other items organized, as well.
These are some of the basic essentials you should keep in mind when moving into one of the new homes in Vancouver Washington. You should also make sure you have a well-equipped tool box that includes hooks, nails, screws, etc., so you can easily hang art and photos to put the finishing touches on your home. Also, don’t forget about all of the necessary cleaning supplies to get rid of the dust and dirt that may come from moving in and unpacking. With the essentials, you’re ready to settle into your new home and add in some fun and personal extras.
